PANEL: Building Workforce Capability for MMC

07 May 2025
FUTURE AUSTRALIA STAGE
Skills and Training development is needed to ensure capability and longevity of MMC building delivery in Australia. Presently, there are a small handful of TAFE subjects, microcredentials, and university courses which focus upon BIM, emerging technologies, and offsite construction. However, the industry is calling for more certainty that the workforce to deliver MMC exists, and in its absence, this is hindering investment. Equally, the education sector is often reactive to market need. This ‘chicken and egg’ of skills and training needs to be ‘cracked’ in order for the Australian building sector to deliver homes and infrastructure with greater productivity, safety, sustainability, equity, and affordability.
