WORKSHOP: Indoor Air Quality — Are Our Buildings Making Us Sick?
We carefully choose what we eat and drink—but rarely question the air we breathe indoors, even though we spend 90% of our lives inside buildings. Indoor air can be significantly more polluted than outdoor air, often due to toxic materials, poor design, and insufficient ventilation.
This presentation challenges us to view buildings through the lens of health. Drawing analogies to food, we explore the "ingredients" used in construction - materials, equipment, context - and the "recipe" of how design, ventilation, and thermal performance impact our well-being.
We highlight how Evissa’s Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and Passivhaus design can create high-performance homes that are safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient. From design strategy to building physics, we’ll explore how to avoid the hidden health risks of conventional construction and build for better living.
It’s time to demand the same transparency and care in our buildings as we do in our diets.
