Plans have been unveiled for Australia's inaugural "circularity center" in Bega, NSW, focused on circular innovation. Designed by Cox Architecture, this center will serve as an educational hub, tourist attraction, and research headquarters for the circular economy. Supported by various entities including Bega Cheese, the University of Wollongong, and industry bodies, the Regional Circularity Cooperative aims to make the Bega Valley the nation's leading circular region by 2030. The center will showcase local products, technology, and community history, emphasizing sustainability and utilizing recycled materials. With a focus on circular economy education, it aims to attract tourism while embodying First Nations' culture. The NSW government has allocated $14 million towards the $19 million National Circularity Centre (NCC), slated to open in early 2026, with the Bega Group contributing the remaining $5 million and land for the site.
