Baoying is an electrical building services engineer with the global engineering firm AECOM based in Sydney. He received two bachelor degrees in electrical engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China and the University of Sydney (First Class honours) in 2015. He is a chartered engineer with Engineers Australia and currently a Master of Management program candidate at University of Sydney.
Since started at AECOM, he has been involved in some of the major projects in Sydney and Melbourne, including Garden Island Stage 2 Redevelopment Project, AirTrunk Data Centres, 4 Parramatta Square Fit-out, and 118 Mount St in North Sydney. He has experience on the design of new buildings, as well as the refurbishment and upgrade of existing facilities.
In 2016 he was selected by Standards Australia Young Leaders Program and is a member of EL-001-14 sub-committee. In 2017 he was awarded as a finalist for CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award in London. In 2018 he was recognized as Young Engineer of the Year by CIBSE ANZ in Sydney.
He has presented and published papers in LED technology for the North America and Australia/New Zealand branches of the Illuminating Engineering Society. He is also a co-author of a research paper in existing substation equipment testing. Outside of work he has been volunteering at schools, mentoring new engineers and is the treasure of the NSW CIBSE Young Engineers’ Network (YEN) committee.
