Prof. Shu-Qing Yang is the director of Centre for Coastal Reservoir Research at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He received his BEng and MEng from China, and PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He has spent time working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of New Orleans, USA, a research fellow/professor/chair professor at National University of Singapore, Korea Maritime University, and South China University of Science and Technology. He was a pioneer researcher and designer for the Three-Gorge-dam, China, the largest inland dam in the world. After that, he shifts his research from rivers and inland dams to coastal lakes, and he involved the research project of water pollution in Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans, USA. In Singapore, he started his research about coastal reservoirs and his research shows that in Singapore the desalination plants and Newater plants are unnecessary if coastal reservoirs are properly designed. He also investigated China’s South-North-water diversion project, the largest inter-basin water transfer project in the world, and his investigation shows that the project could be more cost-effective if coastal reservoirs are considered in its master plan. He also helped initiate a coastal reservoir for Shanghai city, one of the largest cities in the world, which now fully depends on water supply from a coastal reservoir. When worked at Korea Maritime University, he witnessed how a coastal reservoir becomes a wastewater water body if the design is not appropriate in South Korea. Together with others, the International Association for Coastal Reservoirs Research (IACRR) was established in 2017. Now he is the author of two books and many journal/conference papers about coastal reservoirs. His recent interest includes hydraulic structures, sediment and flow simulating in reservoirs under extreme weather conditions, and conceptual design of coastal reservoirs in different estuaries.
What the Australian construction industry is saying about Sydney Build...
The Perfect Hire team and I thought the expo was fantastic. There was a great mix of people walking through looking at the exhibitions and we have gained a lot of quality leads due to this. We did not hesitate to sign up for the following year when approached to do so.
This expo has 100 percent given us very goods leads we could follow up on. This is the best form of marketing we’ve done so far. We’ve been able to connect with leads that are usually very difficult to get in contact with. We’re definitely coming back next year.
The show has a good variety of content including conference, summit and the exhibition itself. We got some quality leads as well. We will definitely come again next year.
