There are few people who have had more widespread influence on the brands of a nation than Cat Burgess. With more than 20 years in design, she has led the brands and identities of hundreds of organisations, from prominent cultural institutions such as the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Living Museums and the Australian National Maritime Museum to flagship companies such as John Holland, Woolworths, Qantas and NRMA.
In an era when the importance of places and cities is becoming a key priority for governments and citizens alike, Cat leads the Frost*Place business at Frost*collective, a strategic and creative agency focused on supporting the success of entrepreneurs looking to create outstanding places. In less than three years Cat has built Frost*Place into a multi-million-dollar entity at the forefront of visioning, design, identities and communication for places. Cat is injecting human-centred design sensibilities into many of Australia’s largest developments including the $2.7 billion Quay Quarter Sydney, 76-hectare Astra Aerolab in the Hunter, $550 million Queen and Collins in Melbourne and 7-hectare M_Park. Her influence is felt across not only Australia, but also offshore. With projects in Malaysia, China and the United States, Cat is playing a major role in exporting Australian design to the world.
