Cecile Tran is a place maker at City of Parramatta Council with a passion for creating places that are socially, environmentally and economically sustainable and bring quality design to everyday life. Experienced in impacting positive organisational outcomes through placemaking, project management, and end-to-end design delivery. Notable projects include:

 

• Sturt and Acacia Parks Upgrades: This project was delivered under the NSW Government’s Priority Precinct Scheme to secure critical open space ahead of Frasers Property Limited and NSW Land and Housing Corporation redevelopment. Sturt Park’s revamp included the City’s only flying fox, along with improvements to the playground equipment and skate bowl. Additionally there was also a new nature play area, multi-use court, seating, sheltered picnic areas, barbeques, and toilet facilities! By aligning with the incoming redevelopment, City of Parramatta Council is helping to deliver a cohesive place-based outcome.
• Heart of Play: This project listened to more than 2,000 voices in our North Parramatta community, everyone from passionate dog owners to the small but vocal athletics contingent. Their desires and concerns drove the ‘Heart of Play’ master plan, which will set the community up for the enormous growth forecast to happen in the next few decades. This project won Parks and Leisure Australia NSW/ACT award 🥇 and selected National finalist for ‘Strategic and Master Planning’ in recognition of this work. Having secured NSW Government WestInvest Local Government Allocation funding, I will be implementing elements of this people-first, community-first master plan under the ‘Active Youth are Healthy Youth’ program. 
• Better Neighbourhood Program: This long-running and successful City of Parramatta Council program focuses on the capital upgrades of local centres outside of the Parramatta CBD to enhance safety, vitality and economic prosperity. In the next year, I will be delivering improvements to Sherwood Street shops, Northmead; Gibbons Street shops, Oatlands; Stamford Avenue shops, Ermington; Epping Town Centre East and Connecting Granville.
