Principal , Architectus

Nigel Justins is an architect and principal at Architectus, he has developed a considerable understanding of sustainable design through practical application on many projects. He was also instrumental in developing Architectus’ Sustainability Framework and was co-chair of the AIA NSW Chapter Sustainability Committee from 2016 to 2019.

Nigel has extensive knowledge of rating tools and a deep understanding of the evolving landscape of sustainable design and architecture. Nigel served as the Green Star Accredited Professional (GSAP) for the refurbishment of 50 Pitt Street, the first refurbishment project in NSW to achieve a Green Star rating and continued in this capacity preparing an As-Built submission for the project. He was Project Architect for an 88-unit social housing scheme in Lilyfield, Sydney, the first housing project in Australia to be awarded a 5-star Green Star rating. All of Nigel’s work is underscored by an imperative to adopt appropriate sustainable design solutions, and this is carried through into the public realm and infrastructure projects that he has worked on in recent years. He is motivated by a belief that great transport infrastructure is the linchpin of future sustainable cities.
