Robert Wagner, KBR’s Head of Transport Solutions brings over 15 years of rail industry experience across the private and public sectors in complex safety-driven and customer-facing environments.

Robert’s technical focus is primarily in Rail Operations Advisory, with his professional background as a Train Controller and Rail Operations Planner on a High-Speed Rail Line and several Metro and Regional Rail Lines in Central Europe.

After finishing Transport Economics Degree at the Technical University of Dresden (Germany), he joined the international Engineering and Consulting arm of Europe’s largest Rail and Logistics Corporation Deutsche Bahn (German Railways). During his time as Operations Consultant, Robert advised clients and managed projects across Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East and South America, working for Transport Ministries, Regulatory Bodies and Rail Operators.

After relocating to Australia in 2015, Robert has been contributing his international experience to the Australian market as a Regional Director for Deutsche Bahn. As part of that role, he was responsible for Project Delivery across Australia and New Zealand, including Canberra Light Rail Operations Advisor, Sydney Metro Northwest Delivery Assurance and Melbourne Metro Independent Reviewer.

Robert is passionate about boosting reliability and on-time performance of existing public transport networks, and setting up future transport projects as true alternatives to individual transport modes. He applies a passenger-centric approach and aims for seamless integration of different transport modes to better connect communities and places.

In addition to his technical and project delivery skills, Robert applies transformational leadership to manage remote teams with intercultural backgrounds. He is recognised for delivering positive cultural change within large organisations.
