Victor Lau
Victor is a Senior Legal Counsel at Acciona Construction Australia. Victor is experienced and qualified as both a lawyer and civil engineer, with both in-house and private practice experience. His experience is primarily with contentious matters, having worked on international and domestic construction arbitrations, conciliations, mediation, adjudication and litigation.
Victor has significant infrastructure experience. He has advised the High Speed Rail project in Taiwan. At a project value of approximately US$16 billion, it is one of the world’s largest BOT projects.
Victor has extensive experience acting on international arbitrations on major infrastructure projects, Victor understands what is required to project manage multi-disciplinary teams of experts, witnesses and lawyers across different jurisdictions to achieve set objectives.
As a senior member of the legal team in private practice and in-house, Victor has taken a particular interest in mentoring, coaching and supervising junior lawyers.
His background as a qualified and experienced civil engineer with over eighteen years of contracting and consulting experience in Hong Kong, United Kingdom and Australia, across a range of significant international projects, has given Victor a solid understanding of the issues often encountered in infrastructure projects.
Victor also completed an MBA at Deakin University. In his spare time, he is learning Spanish.
