Joanne Caughtry

Creative Director, Sea of Ideas Design

Jo Caughtry is the Creative Director of Sea of Ideas Design. Jo is not just a Biophilic Design Consultant and Holistic Interior Designer; she's a genuine trailblazer in the field. With an impressive array of qualifications in Biophilic Design, Plantscaping, and Holistic Interior Design, Jo stands at the cutting edge of creating spaces where aesthetics and well-being are in perfect harmony.

Her journey is distinguished by a profound background in aged care, nursing, and executive health management, endowing her with a unique lens through which she views the design process. Jo’s deep understanding of the complex interplay between the built environment and human behaviour shines especially in sensitive contexts such as aged care, dementia care, and autism/special needs education. Her unparalleled insights into the emotional and behavioural impacts of design set her apart as a thought leader and visionary in her field.

Jo’s influence extends beyond her direct work with clients. As a Board Member for Biophilic Cities Australia and an Ambassador for Habitarmonia Academy, she is at the heart of shaping the biophilic design dialogue both nationally and internationally. Her commitment to crafting spaces that foster well-being and a deep connection to nature is reflected in every project she touches.

Her professional affiliations further illustrate her dedication and influence within the community, including her roles as a member of the Kitchen & Bathroom Designers Institute (KBDi), Root in Nature, Living Future Institute Australia (LFIA), and the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). Each of these positions underscores her commitment to promoting sustainable, health-focused design principles across various platforms.

When partnering with Jo, clients gain more than just a design consultant; they gain an ally and an authority in biophilic design. Jo is dedicated to transforming environments into spaces that not only uplift and inspire but also promote a profound sense of well-being and connection to the natural world. Her work is a testament to her belief that thoughtful design can profoundly impact our quality of life, making her an indispensable asset to any project aiming to bridge the gap between nature and human-centric design.
