Nick Sowden

Builder, Australian Passivhaus Association
Nick Sowden's passion for sustainable building practices has led him to become a certified Passivhaus Tradesman. He believes that building energy-efficient and sustainable homes not only benefits the environment but also enhances the well-being of the occupants. Nick's company, Sowden Building Solutions, specialises in building comfortable, healthy homes that are extremely energy efficient.

Most of Nick's work is renovation projects in Sydney's Inner West, where he applies his expertise in Passivhaus principles to retrofit existing homes to meet the highest energy efficiency standards. His company has completed two EnerPHit projects in heritage conservation zones, including his family home in Balmain. The Balmain EnerPHit project is a hybrid of new timber-framed structure and insulating internally to masonry walls.

Nick's approach to building energy-efficient homes involves a holistic approach that considers all aspects of the building, including the choice in construction materials and insulation. He is committed to delivering sustainable building solutions that meet the unique needs of his clients while also reducing their carbon footprint. Through his work, Nick is contributing to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future for all.
