The NSW Reconstruction Authority has released a new resource to help boost diversity in construction projects across the Northern Rivers.

The Workforce Diversity Connections Tool supports contractors and job seekers by connecting them with training pathways, apprenticeship opportunities, and employment services for target groups including Aboriginal people, women, young people, and apprentices.

The factsheet cites McKinsey's "Diversity Wins" research, which found that businesses with diverse workforces are 35% more likely to achieve higher financial returns than non-diverse ones.

Beyond profitability, the benefits include access to wider talent pools, increased innovation, lower staff turnover, and better understanding of customer needs.

The tool helps contractors meet diversity targets by providing contacts to advertise vacancies, connect with labour hire companies, find Aboriginal construction businesses for procurement, and source trainees and apprentices.

Those interested in construction careers can use the tool to find job opportunities, local training pathways, placement opportunities, and professional support networks in the region.

The tool links to TAFE NSW, Master Builders, Civil Contractors Federation, Supply Nation, NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, and community organisations like The Female Tradie and Tradie Ladies Northern Rivers.
