The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has launched a groundbreaking digital series titled “The Nature of Building: Biodiversity & the Built Environment” on World Habitat Day 2024.
Developed in collaboration with Content With Purpose (CWP), this pioneering project delves into the intricate interplay between construction and the natural world, emphasising the pressing need for the industry to confront the escalating biodiversity crisis.
The series delves into how the built environment impacts biodiversity and presents strategies to counteract the adverse effects of construction activities. It encompasses a diverse range of content, including short films and interviews, that showcase leading-edge projects and initiatives, placing a strong focus on integrating nature into development.
Amanda Williams, the Head of Environmental Sustainability at CIOB, stressed the significance of the construction sector adapting to minimise its impact on biodiversity. She articulated, "We trust that our series will shed light on the essence of biodiversity, its significance, the construction industry's impact on nature, and exemplary practises."
