The New South Wales Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has granted approval for a new residential project located above the Sydney Olympic Park's recently Situated atop the Sydney Metro facility, the development plan encompasses over 300 new residential units and approximately 35,000 square metres of mixed commercial and retail space distributed across three towers, varying in height from 21 to 45 storeys.
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully, emphasised the government's proactive stance in facilitating the creation of additional housing options for upcoming generations. Scully stated, “the NSW government is getting on with the job of actively planning and delivering more homes for the next generation. This approval cements our plan to support the delivery of well-located homes close to transport, jobs and amenities.”
Subsequent to the approval of the precinct, Sydney Metro has announced intentions to expand the project by integrating an additional 190 dwellings, aligning with the state government's objective of enhancing housing availability. This expansion will culminate in a total of 490 residential units within the development.
