Merivale Unveils Vision for Sydney CBD Revitalisation

In a bold move, the renowned hospitality group Merivale has disclosed its ambitious strategy to transform multiple historic edifices nestled in the core of Sydney's CBD into a sprawling hospitality hub.

A comprehensive masterplan has been meticulously crafted to steer the evolution of the 16,300-square-metre precinct known as Kings Green, encompassing five heritage structures interconnected via walkways weaving through King, York, Clarence, and Barrack streets.

The development of the precinct will unfold in phases, with the initial phase focused on establishing a licenced food and beverage establishment across all sites.

The blueprint envisions a blend of offerings within the precinct, including a boutique hotel, diverse dining venues, wellness amenities, and office spaces, all while respecting the existing heights and footprints of the heritage buildings.

Merivale has pledged to uphold the integrity of the precinct by eschewing substantial demolitions or reconstructions, preserving the architectural heritage of the area.

“We want to build on the heritage and memories of our Hotel CBD venue, which we built and have operated since 1995,” Merivale chief executive Justin Hemmes said.

“Sydney is entering a new and exciting era for hospitality and entertainment, and the opening of the Sydney Metro has been revolutionary for the city by improving ease and access for everyone to the central business district and all it has to offer.”

Hemmes also emphasised that this initiative aligns with the NSW Government's strategic objective to bolster the visitor economy, aiming to achieve a $91-billion visitor economy by 2035 by expanding the accommodation infrastructure with the addition of 40,000 hotel rooms.
