Milestone Achieved: Wentworth's $30 Million Hospital Project Reaches Structural Completion
A pivotal moment has been reached in the $30 million Wentworth Health Service Redevelopment as the construction of the building has now been successfully finalised, marking a significant milestone in the project's progress.
The latest achievement, known as the 'topping out' ceremony, signifies the completion of key structural components such as wall framing and roof framing, indicating substantial progress in the construction process.
The new Wentworth Health Service facility, situated adjacent to the existing 80-year-old establishment, is designed to include 19 inpatient unit beds, an Urgent Care Centre, and Community Health Services, catering to the healthcare needs of the region.
Noteworthy features of the redevelopment encompass a specialised palliative care suite featuring an inpatient room with a private terrace and an adjoining family lounge offering scenic views of the river. Additionally, the design incorporates a designated area for families that opens up to a communal courtyard, a gym with access to an outdoor courtyard, outdoor spaces with landscaping including a Yarning Circle, and the integration of native plants.
Positioned above the levee bank of the Darling River, the new hospital capitalises on its location to enhance natural lighting and provide picturesque water views from the Inpatient Unit, fostering a healing environment for patients and staff alike.
Embracing environmentally conscious practises, the project is committed to sustainability by recycling over 90 percent of construction waste generated during the redevelopment, thereby significantly mitigating the project's impact on landfills.
With the structural framework now in place, the project team will shift focus towards the interior fit-out, services installation, and exterior enhancements, ensuring that the new facility is well-equipped to serve the healthcare needs of the community efficiently and sustainably.
