Urban's SJB-Designed Build-to-Rent Project in Parramatta to Address NSW's Housing Shortage with 800 New Homes

Urban Property Group's proposed build-to-rent (BTR) initiative in Parramatta is poised to revolutionize housing options, with plans now expanded to offer a substantial 800 new homes, making it a standout development in New South Wales, focusing on BTR accommodations.
Located at 2 Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta, the project, spearheaded by Urban Property Group, has undergone a significant transformation, doubling the number of BTR residences originally envisioned for the site. Chosen as one of the exclusive projects under the NSW Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure's Rezoning Pathways Program, Urban's State Assessed Planning Proposal (SAPP) is set to reshape the landscape into a prominent BTR hub.
The reimagined development will feature two BTR towers, encompassing around 800 homes, including units designated for affordable housing and NDIS-compliant apartments. It will also incorporate top-tier amenities, a retail base, and a 200-room hotel, all conveniently located near Parramatta Station. With acclaimed architectural firm SJB at the helm, the project aims to establish a new standard for sustainable urban living in the heart of Parramatta.
Urban's revised proposal aligns with the NSW Government's forward-looking housing strategy, emphasizing the need for large-scale, strategically positioned housing ventures to tackle the state's burgeoning population growth and housing challenges. This initiative will play a pivotal role in assisting the NSW Government in achieving its target of delivering 377,000 new residences across metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW by 2029.
The mixed-use complex will boast a dual-tower design, comprising a western tower rising approximately 48 stories and an eastern tower soaring around 35 stories. Residents can anticipate a wide array of amenities, including a rooftop deck, swimming pool, fitness center, children's recreational zones, entertainment rooms, music and multipurpose spaces, coworking areas, and a cinema.
Deemed strategically crucial for the state of NSW, Urban's Parramatta venture, facilitated by the SAPP rezoning pathway, will expedite the provision of these additional homes within the Housing Accord Period, contributing significantly to alleviating the housing shortage in the region.
