Dr Amer Hijazi

Associate Lecturer - BIM, Design & Construction Management, Western Sydney University

Dr Amer Hijazi is an Associate Lecturer specialising in Digital Engineering and Building Information Modelling (BIM). He is a globally certified BIM Manager by RICS and an Autodesk Certified Instructor, with extensive experience in digital engineering, ISO 19650 standards, and industry-integrated practice.

Dr Hijazi has led award-winning initiatives in construction education, integrating real-world, startup-style approaches and strong industry collaboration into academic programs. His research focuses on BIM, blockchain integration, AI in construction, and sustainable built environments, with multiple publications in leading journals.

His work spans projects and collaborations across Australia, the United Kingdom, and the MENA region, where he actively bridges industry practice, policy frameworks, and academic research to advance innovation in digital construction and smart infrastructure.

He has earned the trust of both industry and leading academic institutions through his work and collaborations. He completed his doctorate at the Centre for Smart Modern Construction, Western Sydney University (Australia), supported by a research grant valued at approximately 0.35 million.

His academic development also includes completing the Strategy Program at Oxford University, alongside advanced studies in AI, IoT, and cybersecurity at MIT, USA. He holds a full-scholarship M.Sc. in Building Information Modelling for Infrastructure from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK, in addition to a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering.
