Audrey Penney

Social Ecologist, Director, Australasian Green Infrastructure Network

Audrey Penney is a Social Ecologist, Director of the Australasian Green Infrastructure Network (AGIN), and the Founder of Arkes 4, a sustainability advisory focused on strengthening ESG capability across the built environment. With more than 30 years of experience spanning sustainable education, community development, and the built environment, Audrey works with developers, contractors, and project teams to translate ESG commitments into practical delivery outcomes on projects.

Audrey is also the Co-Founder of Urban Grounding, a turnkey service integrating micro-farms as ESG infrastructure into developments to support biodiversity, urban cooling, food resilience, and community wellbeing.

In her role as Director of the Australasian Green Infrastructure Network (AGIN), Audrey contributes to advancing the national agenda for urban green infrastructure. AGIN is currently progressing the development of an Urban Green Infrastructure (UGI) Standard through Standards Australia and continues to drive knowledge sharing, research, and collaboration across industry and government toward a National Urban Green Infrastructure Strategy.

Audrey’s work sits at the intersection of ESG implementation, nature-positive design, and social value creation, helping projects move beyond compliance to embed green infrastructure solutions that create cooler, healthier, and more resilient cities.

2026 Ambassador Statement: Equality in construction starts with capability. When we build shared knowledge across the sector, sustainability and social value stop being specialist add-ons and become part of everyday decision-making. That’s how real change happens at scale.
