ModnPods was founded in 2016 by John Christie, a former elite Search and Rescue operator in the US Navy Special Operations, where his responsibilities encompassed multiple strategic and tactical missions, and leading high-performance teams in complex disaster and humanitarian relief operations involving up to 22 nations, 40 ships, 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel. John’s military training built valuable expertise in strategy, leading in extreme situations, the ability to flex, and in executing purpose-driven missions requiring exceptional leadership and operational capability.

John left the US Navy in 2014 to pursue his long-held vision to start his own business, which led him to Australia to complete his MBA and Master of Finance at Bond University on the Gold Coast, achieving exceptional academic results. Driven by his sense of purpose and service-oriented vision, it was during this time that John founded ModnPods.

John has had a passion for business and a love of creating since childhood. He hails from a distinguished family including a Geological Engineer father and a Green Beret brother. Prior to his military career, John worked in corporate general management, project management, sales and logistics roles in development, property, mining, gas and land exploration. John was impacted by the US housing crisis and affordability issues, which motivated him to conceptualise better housing solutions based on the same sense of purpose and service that fuelled his military career. He recognised the growing importance and prevalence of similar affordability and housing issues in Australia, and saw the opportunity to find answers to these problems through strategic approaches.

Originally formulated on a container model, ModnPods evolved into the architecturally designed, sustainability focused, prefabricated modular pods range that is attracting substantial interest from clientele in the property development, tourism, education, and government, who are looking for quality, beauty, and sustainability in full end-to-end solutions.

John’s leadership ethos is guided by his belief in the value of collective relationships and partnerships, and the principle of working together for mutual support and benefit. He remains firmly grounded in the values of honour, courage and commitment; and their application to service and integrity within ModnPods business as the founder and visionary driving the business forward.
