Jones Matos has been a registered architect in NSW since 2012. He graduated from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and earned his Master's degree in Parametric Design at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain. He has been living in Australia since 2004 and has experience in all phases of the project from concept to delivery. One of his recent roles was the structural coordination of the 77 Market St (Old David Jones) project at FJMT. On the same project, he worked on the design development of the shopfront. Jones Matos has a special interest in complex Geometry, Facade and their structural interfaces. Those interested led him to do his master's in Parametrics and always chase 'difficult jobs to work'.

Recently, he decided to go to China to see in person many of the buildings that were either projects or under construction during his studies. The idea was to 'evaluate' what was once theory: do those complex geometries work? He tried not only see those buildings but meet many of the professionals who design those complex forms and he is happy to share with us what he saw and learned
