Schandel Fortu is an expert town planner with more than 25 years of experience delivering complex planning and development outcomes across Australia. She combines strategic insight with a practical understanding of planning systems to help shape vibrant communities, connecting people to new homes, workplaces, education, recreation and infrastructure. Schandel applies industry best practice to navigate regulatory complexity, unlock development opportunities and deliver projects that maximise community benefit, sustainability and long-term value.

Known for her collaborative and authentic approach, Schandel fosters strong relationships across the development industry, government and local communities. Her extensive experience in both local government and private consultancy provides a unique perspective that enables effective stakeholder engagement and successful project delivery.

Schandel is a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (REAP) and is qualified to endorse Environmental Impact Statements for State Significant Development in NSW. She has led the planning and approvals strategy for a broad range of major projects, including Build-to-Rent, affordable housing, seniors housing, mixed-use developments, urban renewal precincts and State Significant Development applications.
