Schandel is an expert town planner bringing global and local strategic expertise of more than 20 years’ to connect people from all walks of life to their next home, workplace, or recreational space. She applies industry best practice to shape buildings that suit local communities and their sustainable growth needs. She also brings the ability to navigate and balance regulatory complexity to ensure projects deliver maximum well-being and lifestyle choices. Schandel offers a passionate and authentic approach to problem solving while fostering deep connections with stakeholders, spanning local and state governments along with communities. Her experience in local government coupled with her consultancy work allows for superior insights and development outcomes.
Schandel is also a Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner able to endorse Environmental Impact Statements for State Significant Development. Schandel has led the preparation of several build to rent (BTR) state significant development applications, affordable housing state significant applications, and rezoning of major renewal precincts.
She also works with the Property Council of Australia (PCA) on the National BTR Roundtable with a group of industry leaders advocating for policy reform to unlock the full potential of BTR housing diversity.
Schandel is also working closely with the PCA within the Western Sydney Chapter on developing the vision for more connected communities.
