Seyon Navarathnam
Seyon Navarathnam is an accomplished infrastructure professional with over 22 years of industry experience across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, spanning both infrastructure and complex building projects.
His expertise covers a wide range of technically demanding environments, including high-rise developments, bridges, large-scale infrastructure works, deep shafts, control chambers, live sewer and water diversions, asset renewals, and underground tunnelling operations.
Seyon holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a Master of Science in International Construction Management from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He has built a strong reputation for leading multidisciplinary teams and successfully delivering complex projects, with particular strength in developing construction methodologies and value engineering solutions.
Over his career, including more than 16 years in project and construction management, Seyon has delivered projects across multiple sectors and regions.
In Singapore, he worked on underground train stations using cut-and-cover construction, deep excavations, high-rise buildings using precast and modular technologies, multi-storey car parks, substations, elevated landscape decks, commercial developments, water-themed structures, and microtunnelling works.
In New Zealand, Seyon contributed to the Central Interceptor project, working on deep shafts, tunnelling, air treatment facilities, and complex interface works.
In Australia, his experience includes bridge construction, water infrastructure, and asset renewal projects.
Seyon is currently working as a Project Manager with Downer Group in the Energy and Utilities business unit. With a practical, solutions-driven mindset, he brings deep insight into constructability, complex infrastructure systems, and risk management, grounded in extensive hands-on experience.
He is passionate about knowledge sharing, mentoring emerging professionals, and contributing to meaningful industry conversations that advance innovation, resilience, and delivery excellence.
