Felicity Pettiford – Women in Trades Video Introduction
Felicity Pettiford, known as "Sydney Builder Chick," is a fully qualified carpenter and builder featured in the NSW Women in Construction Program's Women in Trades video series. She is also a Women & Diversity Ambassador for Sydney Build Expo.
Felicity holds the distinction of being the youngest female to complete her Certificate IV in Building and Construction through Master Builders. Starting her journey through a construction elective in high school where she topped her class, she went straight into an apprenticeship and has built her career in general carpentry, home building, renovations and extensions. She's now working towards launching her own building company, with an ambitious goal of becoming the first female builder to compete on The Block.
In the video, Felicity speaks openly about overcoming the stigma women face on construction sites while championing the mental rewards of outdoor work and the satisfaction of creating something tangible. Her message to women considering the industry is direct: "Don't give up. And don't let anyone tell you no, because the only person who's going to say that to yourself is you."
