South Australia has once again proven itself a powerhouse of emerging construction talent, with Callery Building's Luke Callery taking home the prestigious Australian Young Builder of the Year title at the Master Builders Association 2025 National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.

Callery, a qualified carpenter who founded his Stepney-based company in 2017, continues to gain national recognition for his meticulous craftsmanship, strong client focus, and leadership within the industry. Master Builders SA CEO Will Frogley praised him as “the very definition of a master builder,” noting his standout professionalism, customer care, and consistently high-quality work.

His portfolio, featuring luxurious and detail-rich builds, has drawn significant acclaim, reflecting both his technical skill and creative eye. Beyond his project work, Callery is also a passionate advocate for the ‘Born to Build’ program, an initiative designed to inspire young South Australians to pursue careers in construction. Frogley emphasized how Callery embodies the program’s mission and serves as a role model for future tradespeople. 

This marks the third consecutive year a South Australian has secured the national young builder accolade, reinforcing the state’s growing reputation for cultivating exceptional builders. Industry leaders attribute this success to strong training pathways, thriving apprenticeship programs, and a construction sector that remains resilient and full of opportunity—even amid national skills shortages.

South Australia’s dominance at the awards didn’t end there—Bellevue Building Concepts and Crew Built also claimed top honours in the renovations and extensions categories, further highlighting the depth of talent within the state.
