How Does The Business Events Grant Work?

On 11 September 2020 the Australian Government announced it would establish the $50 million Business Events Grants program. This program is funded under the $1 billion Relief and Recovery Fund which is providing assistance to sectors, regions and communities disproportionately affected by the economic impacts of COVID-19.

Sydney Build Expo 2021 has been approved to be part of the Business Events Grants Program. You can download the full list of approved events from Austrade here.

All bookings for exhibition space / sponsorship after 5th January 2021 are eligible to apply for a grant of up to 50% from Austrade.  Details below correct as of 05/01/21.


Closing date for applications to be received by Austrade: 30 Mar 2021 05:00 PM AEDT.

Application detail:  This program is demand driven and will be open until all funding has been allocated.

What do you get? The grant amount will be up to 50 per cent of eligible project expenditure (grant percentage). 

  1. The minimum grant amount is $10,000.
  2. The maximum grant amount is $250,000.

 Who is this for?  Australian businesses including sole traders.

How Do You Apply?

1. Contact Us - Review the floorplan and event brochures. Decide on what you you want to book: exhibition space type,  size, location, sponsorship options etc. Please mention to us that you are looking at applying for the government grant. Click Here To Download Event Brochure & Floorplan

2. Fill Out A Booking Form - You will complete a booking form with us to confirm the booking. At this point you must make us aware if you are applying for government grants. If your application is rejected by Austrade, then we will be able to try and amend the booking or cancel should you not be in a position to proceed. 

3. Apply directly to Austrade by March 30th, click here for full information:  This page outlines the application information you are required to submit. There are 5 key documents at the bottom of this page which we recommend you review. Austrade and associated government departments are wholly responsible for your application and approval and we do not have any input from our side. They will discuss your application and arrange payment of up to 50% as required. Please direct any questions related to this to them.
